Why Organic Mattresses? Most mattresses are made of PVC, polyester, foam. They are then doused with flame-retardant chemicals and
PBDE's.
You can buy organic and guarantee that your
family will not be exposed to chemicals that have been proven to reduce breathing and are implicated in
a host of illnesses, including cancer and SIDS. To research further just go online and search for PBDE's.
Bad Government in our bedrooms. The primary chemicals required to meet state and federal flammability guidelines include Boric Acid (which effectively kills roaches),
PBDE's, Formaldehyde, Decabromodiphenyl Oxide, Melamine, Zinc Borate, Vinylidiene Chloride, and Antimony
Trioxide.
IMPORTANT: Mattresses with natural wool have natural,
non-chemical, fire retardant properties. Wool wrapped mattresses meet
federal flammability standards until 2007. California residents must
submit a prescription to purchase.
Any licensed health professional in your state may provide this simple
prescription that states "patient requires bed made without chemical
flame retardants."

We have chosen to not offer natural latex core adult mattresses at this time, because they do not offer
natural fire retardance. Needless to say, non-organic, chemically
saturated products are out of the question!
